4th of July Kids Game “Don’t Eat Sam!” + Printable Blog Hop

Can you believe it’s already time to start thinking about the 4th of July? We love the 4th – parades, barbecues, family and fireworks are all a part of our traditional celebration. Today we’re sharing a little game that is fun to have around in between all those activities to keep the kids busy. Do you remember playing Don’t Eat Pete as a kid? {Don’t worry, we’ve included directions.} Here’s a 4th of July version that’s easy enough for even the littlest kids to play.
The fun graphics I used to make the gameboard are from Magical Scraps.
Our Halloween Version of this game is available too!
“Don’t Eat Sam!” – How to Play the Game
1. Place one piece of candy or whatever marker you choose in each square.
2. Have one child out of the group leave the room.
3. The other children decide which square will be “Sam” for that game. It can be any one, but only one.
4. The child comes back in the room and takes one candy at a time (we play with a little cup they can keep their candies in instead of shoving them all in at a time) , until he reaches for the one designated as “Sam”….
5. The rest of the children say, “DON’T EAT SAM!”
6. Play starts over with another person leaving the room, the grid is all filled, and another “Sam” is chosen.
7. I’ve heard some play with the rule that if you pick “Frank” very first, you get all the candies! Fun!

Again, I’m allll about cheap, easy, high-impact decor!  These cute “wind socks” add such a festive feel while being dirt cheap and easy to make… and that’s what America is all about, right?     Idea and tutorial from Multiples and More HERE.
